The current situation of educational research in mainland China under the influence of Confucian Culture can be addressed from three perspectives, i.e. content, method and value. In terms of content, the research is focused on educational thoughts embedded in Confucianism, some issues of education by certain Confucian thoughts or theories and the influence of inclusiveness displayed by Confucian thoughts on the development of educational research's content. In terms of research method, the research puts emphasis on developing a theoretical system metaphysically and studying literature with citation. In terms of research value, the research attaches importance to the human dimension, especially human nature, human ethics and rites, and the function of education as serving politics. The trends of research are summarized as follows: the expansion of research content with Confucianism, the guidance of educational theory on education reform, a growing emphasis on human thoughts, willingness, feelings as well as human rights, and the function of education as serving both politics and economy. |
